One of the greatest challenges while job hunting is finding the energy.
Most of us are working long days at tiring jobs. When we get home, all we want to do is sit down or lay down.
Combing the internet for positions and networking doesn’t sound appealing at all. What sounds good is dinner, a movie, and massage.
How do I get the energy?
1. Make a Plan
Sit down, and write out what you are going to do in the next 3 days. Be specific. Who are you going to email and when? How many jobs are you going to apply for? Start small and work you’re way up.
The more specific you are, the better.
2. Tell Someone About It
It is easy to come home and convince yourself that you will work on this tomorrow. It is a lot harder to convince someone else. Ask a friend, spouse, or relative to keep you accountable. Show them your plan and give them the power to keep you accountable
3. Talk To Other People With The Same Issue
Two of the most comforting words in the world are “Me too”. Find other people who are struggling with the same issues and talk with them. See what they are doing and encourage each other.
Realizing you are not alone makes things a lot easier
Nothing brings more energy that doing the work and seeing the results.
